The One…

Breaking the ONEitis…..

“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power or our will. ”
― Epictetus

Having dinner last nite at Tim’s, I saw myself while talking to him.  He is in love, with another and suffers from ONEitis.   While talking I could see him rationalize, and have so much hope to the idea that SHE was TheOne.   I tried to show him where I felt she was abusing his feelings and manipulating him.  I am not sure how he took it.  But some of the things reminded me of my experience with Angela.

Rollo has some good advice, and helped me understand my ONEitis with Angela.   I can see given my current plate spinning there are others out there.   While Angela fills many voids, my inability to get her to recipocate, whether her fears, or my AFCness, doesn’t matter.   Adrienne is antipodal to Angela,  I wish I could combine the two.   But both are good cooks and trained by Italians!

The definition of Power is not financial success, status or influence over others, but the degree to which we have control over our own lives. Subscribing to the soulmate mythology necessitates that we recognize powerlessness in this arena of our lives. – Rollo, RationalMale – There is no One.

Rollo’s and Epictetus quotes resonate with me and my idea of my own personal power.  This power enables me to create the positive order I wish in my life.  I need to extend my life and order it towards my needs.  I have been dysfunctional in this regard.    I need to enumerate my needs, and work on the morning meditations.  If we apply TheLawOfAttraction to this we can see ONEitis is nothing more than trying to attract with negative/bad feelings, we are avoiding the positive/good ones.   ONEitis is yearning and avoiding the good feelings someone else might give you.   I hope Tim can take my advice, I know entering the Manosphere will be difficult for him, I find pulling out of the matrix difficult for most all people.  But they recognize it at some level……..
